Chapter 100
If I had to summarize what just happened in front of me in a single sentence:
「The Chinese guys picked a fight, and the Chinese guy cleaned it up himself.」
I simply stood there and watched.
They fought among themselves and sorted themselves out.
Naturally, that suited me just fine.
One less annoyance to deal with.
Though, one thing bothered me a bit—
That judgment freak must have gobbled up the “trial points” those guys were carrying.
But honestly, whatever.
It probably wasn’t much anyway.
Call it the price I paid for keeping my own hands clean.
Swoosh.
So I immediately tried to leave.
There were only two weeks left before the appearance of the ‘Toxin Mist,’ and I was still starving for poison.
To reach Thousand-Poison Immunity in time, I couldn’t afford to rest even for a minute.
But then—
“Wait. Stop there.”
The Judgment Spear lifted his weapon to block my path.
“…Why?”
“You must travel with me.”
Huh?
Out of nowhere?
“What’s with that sudden declaration?”
“You also killed someone recently.”
“……”
I frowned.
There was only one person I had killed lately.
Shin Jong-oh.
The grandson of a conglomerate chairman.
The guy who attacked me repeatedly out of entitled arrogance, and even hired a Ranker to assassinate me.
As far as I was concerned, he deserved to die.
“Of course, the reason for that kill was [self-defense] and [revenge]. You are not subject to my judgment. However, killing once makes killing again easier. That makes you a person of interest.”
“…Good grief.”
I shook my head.
This guy—
Classic rigid personality.
No empathy, no flexibility.
Moves solely based on his own internal law.
Even his tone screamed stubbornness.
‘Unbelievable.’
The trashy Chinese quartet was annoying enough.
Now a strong Chinese guy wanted to get in the way.
“I doubt you understand, so I will speak plainly.”
The Judgment Spear stared at me and spoke.
“My unique ability is ‘Judgment.’ The more evil I punish, the more my stats and level grow. Thus, judgment is more important to me than the trial itself.”
“…Okay, but I have a question.”
“What is it.”
“If an evil person stronger than you appears—will you judge him too?”
The meaning was simple.
Are you just bullying the weak?
“……”
His eyes narrowed.
“Are you implying you are stronger than I?”
What?
How did he get that out of what I said?
Well, I could answer honestly—
“I don’t know about overall strength, but in spear technique, my subordinate is no slouch.”
I pointed my chin toward Sunny.
Thud.
Sunny proudly planted his spear into the ground and straightened his back.
Anyone could see his confidence.
“…Do not mock me. I bear the spear techniques of the world’s greatest spearman, Chen Ziyi. I’ve lost count of how many fools have challenged me with their garbage spear skills.”
“Oh?”
Surprising.
He had a pride point here.
Just like his rigid obsession with punishing evil…
His pride in spear technique was sky-high.
Well—
He was the disciple of the World Rank 10, the Spear King.
‘But.’
Sunny wasn’t Rank 10.
Sunny was the absolute ruler of an entire world.
Even the Master of Ten Thousand Arts said Sunny might be able to take down his past self at full power.
‘I am curious though.’
Sun Spear vs. Judgment Spear.
Who would win?
Thump.
A hot thrill rose inside my chest.
I must really be a guy—
Getting fired up about this kind of thing.
“How about we make a wager?”
“A wager?”
He tilted his head.
“Yeah. A duel. Only with spear technique. No energy, no skills. Pure spearplay. Whoever has the higher level of mastery wins. How about it?”
Fwish.
Even before I finished—
Sunny had already twirled his spear and coiled the shaft around his waist.
“Master, thank you for your trust. I will show you the true essence of the Sun Spear.”
“Hmm.”
The Judgment Spear stroked his chin.
His “principles” were colliding with his “pride.”
“Loser yields gracefully. If you lose, you leave me the hell alone. If you win, I will follow you around and let you say whatever you want. How’s that?”
Rumble—
I channeled my energy and had my skeletons form a circular arena.
A proper arena was ready.
“Surely the disciple of the great Spear King won’t back down from a challenge?”
I poked at his pride.
“I am the Skeleton King. Ruler of all skeletons. If you can’t even beat one of my subordinates—maybe that title of Spear King doesn’t mean much.”
“……!”
Silence spread across the arena.
His aura grew colder.
For all his rigid rules and stubbornness—
He was still a warrior.
And no warrior would sit back quietly when you insulted his spear, his pride, and his master.
Fwoooosh—!
He gripped his spear tightly.
“Skeleton King, is it?”
“Yes. Judgment Spear, Zhang Wei.”
The man with the strongest spear under heaven glared at Sunny.
“Fine. I accept.”
Step. Step.
He walked to one side of the arena.
Sunny moved to the other.
Two spear masters faced each other.
“What is the name of your spear technique?”
The Judgment Spear asked first.
“…The spear I wield in service of my lord is the Sun Spear. A technique born under the blazing sun of a desert battlefield.”
“…I see.”
The unexpected courtesy made the Judgment Spear smile faintly.
“My spear technique is ‘Pear Blossom Spear.’ A style as ever-changing as falling petals.”
“I look forward to it. Is that the sky you’ve been aiming for?”
They spoke politely—
But the atmosphere around them was poisonous.
Like eating a first-grade poison.
Thick killing intent pressed down on the air.
Neither used energy, yet the tension was suffocating.
“I’ll go first.”
“But of course. I am ready whenever.”
Chaak!
Taat!
Both charged forward simultaneously.
“The Pear Blossom Spear is divided into six forms.”
His spear shot toward Sunny’s heart.
“If you can block all six, I will acknowledge you!”
Tap-tap-tap!
His footwork dazzled the eye.
Of course—it was built around deception and variation.
Pear Blossom Spear.
First Form.
Poison Dragon Emerges.
“A cheap trick to cloud the eyes with illusions while the real strike goes for the heart?”
Shiiing—
Sunny’s spear glowed white.
“Hah!”
Boom!
He burned away the rising dragon of poison with solar flame—
Then spun his waist and swung the reverse end toward the Judgment Spear’s face.
“Hn?”
Whether caught off guard or simply careless—
Zhang Wei had to retreat quickly.
“…Impressive.”
He exhaled in disbelief.
“Well done. It seems I underestimated you greatly. I’ll fight seriously now.”
Sunny struck first this time.
Vwoom—!
In the past—
That spear had pierced the hearts of every human he hated.
Not a technique.
Not an art.
Just killing intent turned to pure instinct.
“A fierce aura like a demon’s.”
Pear Blossom Spear.
Second Form.
Horse-Turning Spear.
He twisted his hips to counterattack—using the opponent’s force to drive in a lethal strike.
But Sunny only smirked.
He dipped his head—
And punched the Judgment Spear’s supporting foot.
“W-What?!”
Zhang Wei staggered in shock.
“Why so surprised? From what I saw earlier, you seemed to enjoy using whatever dirty tricks worked.”
Sunny taunted him.
“You think I was surprised?”
“If my lord’s gift of eyesight isn’t wrong, yes.”
“Do not speak carelessly! The fight isn’t over!”
Ignoring the pain, Zhang Wei struck with his own kick.
And so—
A brawl erupted.
No longer a noble duel.
A real fight between men.
“Haaah!”
The Judgment Spear moved beautifully.
But—
“When you focus only on variation, the true path of your spear becomes obvious.”
Sunny, who once fought blind, could not be fooled by flashiness.
“The true strength of that spear—”
Slaaash!
Sunny’s spear tip sliced Zhang Wei’s thigh.
Blood splattered.
“—will only appear when all your variations become real.”
Sunny’s eyes hardened.
Vwoom. Vwooom!
He pierced through Zhang Wei’s position, stopped behind him—
All in a single second.
Sunny’s voice echoed quietly.
“With that spear, you’re nowhere near ready to face the Sun Spear, child.” (T/N: Mic drop. BAM! Sunny cooked!)
“……”
Zhang Wei stood frozen.
His widened eyes couldn’t process what had happened.
‘Figure it out.’
I silently cheered him.
‘Sunny could beat me in spear technique.’
Sunny had once ruled another world.
Maybe the Spear King himself could match him.
‘Of course—’
Right now Sunny would be crushed by the Spear King.
Sunny had regained barely 10% of his original strength.
For him to return to full power—
I’d need to become a Ranker first, then keep training him.
“…Incredible.”
Blood burst from Zhang Wei’s entire body.
“I admit defeat. I still have many forms left to show, but… I see the conclusion. Unbelievable skill.”
He had realized it.
Sunny was holding back.
If Sunny hadn’t—
Zhang Wei’s throat would’ve been pierced before the second form even began.
‘Insane.’
Honestly, I hadn’t known.
I expected Sunny to have the edge, sure—
But this level of domination?
‘You monster…’
Sunny proved once more how terrifying he truly was.
“…I see. All variations must be real… so that was the blockage…”
Thud.
Then—
Zhang Wei sat down and began refining his energy.
Wounds everywhere.
Blood pouring.
But he ignored it.
He was completely immersed.
‘Would you look at that?’
I knew what that meant.
Total enlightenment.
A sudden insight.
I’d felt it myself while forging with Dmir.
‘But.’
Doing that right in front of me?
If I intended to kill Zhang Wei right now—
He’d be dead.
Instantly.
“……”
Tsk.
But I wasn’t that kind of guy.
And if I killed him? I’d spend the rest of my life being hunted by the Spear King.
“Consider yourself lucky today, you stubborn idiot…”
I muttered as I quietly summoned Bone Seven.
(T/N: Is he going to be the second male lead? The serious type that always shows up in these kinds of tropes?)
(T/N: I’m also thinking of adding this series to the premium releases along with Legendary Hero is an Academy Honor Student, but it would only be about 10 chapters ahead since the pricing will stay the same. What do you guys think?
