Chapter 312
Leo stared at the crystal orb that sealed Kirran’s wings, lost in thought.
‘So that’s the source of mana that allowed that absurdly powerful slime to exist?’
Kirran.
The Fairy Prince.
A royal fairy and heir to the next Fairy King.
However, due to his excessive mischief, the current Fairy King, Sillord, had stripped him of all his wings and banished him from Fairy Land as punishment.
He had managed to retrieve one pair, but the other two were still missing.
And one of those remaining pairs was right here.
Leo recalled Kirran.
The Island of Summoned Beasts on Lake Lumeria—
Kirran had settled there, reportedly playing all sorts of pranks on first-year summoning students.
Of course, that information had come from Kirran’s nemesis, Fiora.
‘Well, at least he doesn’t seem to be causing too much trouble.’
While Leo thought to himself, Chloe and Tina were engrossed in an intense discussion about magic theory.
“Hm. So this is your original magic formula? Impressive.”
Tina admired Chloe’s unique spell, [Ice World].
“Yes. For my midterm project, I’m planning to apply [Ice World].”
“You’re going to apply Field Magic to Familiar Magic? That’s an interesting idea.”
Tina’s eyes sparkled.
“And you, Leo? What’s your plan for the exam?”
“I plan to experiment with spirits.”
“Spirits? Versatile, I like that.”
Tina smiled faintly.
“By the way, I have something to ask.”
“What is it?”
“Where did you get that?”
Leo pointed to the crystal orb.
Tina gave him a knowing smile.
“You’ve got a good eye.”
She reached for the orb and placed it on the desk.
Chloe tilted her head.
“What’s that wing inside?”
“It’s a fairy wing.”
Chloe’s eyes widened in surprise.
Seeing that, Tina looked at Leo.
“As expected of an All-Class mage. You reacted to the fairy’s mana right away, didn’t you?”
“I did.”
“So, do you want it?”
“Will you give it to me?”
Leo asked with a grin, and Tina returned it with her own.
“Do me one favor, then.”
“What kind of favor?”
“I’d like to examine your body… thoroughly.”
“M-my body, thoroughly?”
Chloe’s face froze in shock.
Tina, expressionless as always, said flatly, “I’m just curious about the capabilities of an All-Class mage. What on earth are you imagining?”
“N-no, I just…”
“Don’t tell me you imagined me stripping him down—”
“That’s not it! I wasn’t thinking that!”
Chloe flailed her hands, face beet red.
“So, what do you say? Want to let me examine you?”
“I’ll pass.”
“That’s a shame.”
Tina smiled lazily and placed the orb back in its original spot.
“If you’re ever curious about anything, feel free to visit. Especially if you ever develop an interest in dissection.”
Seeing them off to the door, Tina silently slipped back into her office.
As they walked down the corridor, Chloe muttered, “Leo, just so you know—I wasn’t imagining anything weird.”
“What weird imagination?”
“I mean… ugh, never mind! Let’s just go eat dinner!”
Chloe coughed awkwardly and walked ahead.
Leo followed behind, chuckling softly.
—
That night, in his dorm room, Leo summoned Kirran.
Vwoom—
Kirran poked his head out of the summoning circle.
[What’s up, Leo?]
Following him, Elci and Ahti appeared from the circle as well.
“I found one of your wings.”
[What? Really?!]
Kirran’s eyes widened, and he cheered loudly, spinning around the room. Every flap of his wings released a trail of silver dust.
Fiora, sitting nearby in human form thanks to Kirran’s magic, glared at him while crunching on cookies.
“Stop scattering dust everywhere, you stupid fairy.”
[Vinix is saying weird things again.]
“Vinix? Are you dumb? I’m Phoenix!”
[Yeah, a fat Phoenix. Vinix. You’re eating cookies again—trying to turn into a pig?]
“Who are you calling a pig?!”
Furious, Fiora pulled out a flyswatter and swung it at Kirran.
‘Whap! Whap!’
– “You think you can catch me with that pathetic attack?”
Kirran twisted and darted through the air with acrobatic grace, teasing her.
Watching them, Ahti approached Leo.
“Master.”
“What is it?”
“Would you… insult me and hit me with that flyswatter too?”
Twisting her body with an eager look, Ahti made Leo press his fingers to his temple.
“Ahti.”
“Yes, Master.”
“I wasn’t going to say this, but…”
“Yes?”
“You’re a pegasus.”
“That’s right.”
“My familiar in my past life was also a pegasus.”
Leo gave her a weary look.
“He was always serious. I’m not telling you to be the same, but maybe stop asking for perverted stuff every time you see me?”
Ahti froze.
“…So you mean, compared to your previous familiar, I’m being vulgar and unsightly?”
“I didn’t say that.”
“I see. I’ve disappointed you then.”
Ahti hung her head, her body trembling slightly.
Elci looked concerned.
[That was a bit harsh. Ahti’s a great help in battle, you know.]
Leo gave her a blank stare.
“And yet she’s ‘happy’ hearing that.”
[Huh?]
Elci fluttered toward Ahti—and froze.
Ahti’s flushed face was filled with bliss.
“A vulgar, unsightly pegasus… ahh! Who else would ever say such cruel words to me…”
Elci covered her face in despair.
Leo sighed.
“…Are you crying?”
[It’s just… I’m embarrassed to share a room with them.]
“Ahhn!”
At her words, Ahti clutched her chest and collapsed.
“Elci called me a pervert too… I love it.”
‘She’s getting worse every day.’
Leo sighed as he looked at his deranged pegasus.
[Wahaha! Vinix! Vinix!]
“You come here!”
Fiora swung her flyswatter again as Kirran zipped around the air, laughing.
‘Whish—! Thwack!’
[Huh?]
“Ah?”
Fiora’s flyswatter smacked Elci instead.
Elci crashed to the floor in silence.
Fiora quickly hid the flyswatter behind her back, while Kirran hid behind Ahti.
Both shouted in unison—
“It’s that fairy’s fault!”
[It’s that phoenix’s fault!]
Elci slowly rose. Black light glimmered between her dark strands of hair.
‘She’s angry.’
Leo clicked his tongue inwardly.
The others might not know, but he did—
this was the same Elci from a distant past, the one who had lost everything and burned with hatred.
Ssshhh—
Using Leo’s energy, Elci grew to adult size and stretched out her hand.
A shadow snatched the flyswatter from Fiora’s grip.
Without expression, Elci began thrashing Kirran mercilessly.
[Urgh! Wait! Ack—!]
When she was done pulverizing him, she turned to Fiora.
“Roll up your pant legs.”
“I didn’t do anything! I’ve never even been hit by my mom—”
“Roll them up.”
Sniffling, Fiora obeyed.
Elci flipped the flyswatter around and smacked her legs repeatedly.
Within seconds, both the phoenix and fairy—every summoner’s dream familiars—were subdued.
Elci’s cold voice rang out.
“If you act like brats again, I won’t go easy on you.”
[Y-yes, ma’am…]
“Y-yes…”
Kirran twitched under the flyswatter while Fiora rubbed her stinging calves, tearful.
The young familiars didn’t dare make a sound.
Watching them, Leo turned to Ahti, who was hiding behind him.
“Why didn’t you ask to be punished too? You usually like that.”
“I don’t want punishment from ‘that’ Elci.”
Leo sighed again at his overly perceptive, perverted pegasus.
—
[So my wing’s being kept by some elf, huh?!]
Kirran’s face was full of outrage.
Weakened as he was, he had longed to regain his wings to restore his power and reclaim his position as Fairy Prince.
Hearing that one pair had been found was enough to send him into a frenzy.
[Then what are we waiting for?! Let’s go get it right now!]
“It won’t be that easy. The current holder is that visiting professor.”
[What?! The wing belongs to me! Why is some elf keeping it?]
Hands on hips, Kirran fumed.
“Because Professor Tina’s the one keeping it, that’s why.”
[Hmph! If I get my strength back, it’ll help you too, you know. Why are you being so timid?]
Kirran scoffed, spread his wings wide, and flew toward the window.
[Just watch! I’ll get my wings back myself!]
As Kirran disappeared into the night, Leo rested his chin on his hand.
“That won’t be easy.”
[What kind of person is this Professor Tina?]
Elci, now back to palm size, asked curiously.
“A weirdo.”
[Hmm. Can’t picture it. You think something bad will happen if Kirran gets caught?]
She stirred her tea with a spoon almost her own height.
“Hard to say. She might try to dissect him.”
Elci sighed deeply.
‘Let’s hope nothing happens.’
—
The next morning.
At the second-year dorm cafeteria—
Most second-years usually had breakfast there. It was where each day began, and all the dorm students gathered.
That day, Leo ate alone.
He noticed the room was unusually empty.
“Good morning, Leo!”
Chelsea greeted him brightly, holding a tray, and sat across from him.
“Sleep well?”
“Yeah.”
The three dorms—Glory, Harmony, and Noble—were naturally competitive.
So unless it was after class or dinner, it was rare for the dorm leaders to eat together in the same place.
Even Celia had never eaten breakfast with her cousin Leo or her close friend Chloe.
But Chelsea often ate with Leo and Abad.
“Mmm~”
Chelsea covered her face with both hands, delighted by the taste of the strawberry jam served that morning. Then, as if recalling something, she said,
“By the way, Leo, did you hear?”
“Hear what?”
“They said a fairy appeared near the second-year dorms last night.”
Leo looked up, scanning the dining hall.
Now he realized why it felt emptier—most of the summoning students were gone, almost all of them.
“There were multiple witnesses, too. It’s a big deal right now.”
Chelsea’s words made Leo rub his forehead.
‘That idiot really did it.’
