Chapter 395
-Who are you?
That was the first thing Elci said as she emerged from the summoning circle.
The young Great Spirit of Darkness looked utterly bewildered.
Of course she would.
Elci had been born only recently, and she had never once formed an Oath.
To be forcibly summoned through an Oath she hadn’t even made—it was impossible not to be shocked.
The same went for Silload, successor to the Fairy King.
(T/N : Ohhhh I see. I was wondering as well since Leo/Kyle told like in the earlier chapters that he left all his summons in the future. )
-H-How did you kidnap me?
Silload looked outright terrified.
Five thousand years in the future, as the last remaining Summoned Beast King, Silload was renowned as the undisputed strongest Summoned Beast—having lived through everything from the Era of Calamity to the Era of Genesis.
But to Leo, this version of Silload was far more familiar than that dignified figure.
-I’ve never made a contract with someone like you!
-M-Me neither! Let me go!
Leo reached out toward Elci and Silload, who flitted around him in a frantic panic like moths.
Grab-!
“I need your power,” Leo said in a low voice.
“To reclaim the starlight of the night sky.”
-The stars?
“To make a forest shine with verdant light once again.”
-A forest?
Leo fed them a story that would hook the young Spirit and fairy.
“To do that, you have to fight that thing with me right now.”
-That thing?
-What in the world…
Kuuuuuoooooooooooooo!
Jormungandr roared at Leo, who had soared high into the sky.
Vwoooom-!
As if answering the roar, an enormous mass of dark Mana gathered around Leo.
‘Curse of Binding.’
Leo’s eyes sharpened.
Having analyzed the curse’s pattern, he instantly formed a Curse Removal Spell.
Pach-!
The curse shattered.
Albus stared, startled.
-To remove a Legion Commander’s curse so quickly…
-A Legion Commander? Is that giant snake a Legion Commander?
-Don’t tell me it’s the Gluttony King Jormungandr?!
Elci and Silload gasped at Albus’s words.
“I’ll explain how you were summoned later. For now…”
Leo stirred his Spirit Energy.
Elci and Silload resonated with it.
“Focus on taking that thing down!”
Leo yanked Albus’s reins.
Crackle-crackle-crackle-!
A maelstrom of pure white Divine Lightning swirled around them.
Jormungandr lunged, maw gaping.
Kwa-ga-ga-ga-ga-gak-!
Albus dodged and surged forward, turning into a bolt of Divine Lightning.
As Leo and Albus instantly pulled away, Jormungandr bellowed.
-Foolish creature! Do you think you can escape from me?!
Kwa-ga-ga-ga-gang-!
Jormungandr chased after them in an instant.
A pegasus is the fastest of all Summoned Beasts.
And the White King is the fastest among all pegasi.
A speed worthy of being called godspeed.
Yet Jormungandr pursued them at a pace that didn’t fit its massive body.
It was fast—just not as fast as Albus.
And still, the distance kept shrinking.
Vwooooong-!
Dark Mana swirled, aiming for Albus.
Albus climbed higher, dodging it.
As if reading her movements, Jormungandr cut along the shortest line, steadily closing in.
Its nostrils flared without pause.
‘I smell it. The scent of your hateful movements!’
Its developed sense of smell didn’t just track Leo’s trail—it told it where Leo was going.
An ability that could only be called prophecy.
Glutton King Jormungandr.
It possessed overwhelming power, but lacked the cunning of other legion commanders, and it commanded no legion of its own.
And yet it reigned as the most feared Demon of this era—
because of its absurdly developed sense of smell, akin to precognition.
With that ability, Jormungandr devoured everything that stood in its way.
A predator of heroes that had swallowed countless heroes who tried to protect the world.
Just as it always had, it intended to devour the hero before it.
Chomp-!
-I’ll chew you up and swallow you!
Jormungandr opened its mouth wide.
At the same time, Leo stirred his Aura.
Supersense.
Every sense in his body sharpened.
The technique of the Hero who stood at the forefront whenever the moment mattered most.
His honed instincts screamed danger.
Fwoosh-!
Jormungandr’s eyes twitched.
Leo’s movement—just now—had deviated from its prediction.
-You! Playing your little tricks! But it is impossible to escape my sight! The ability granted to me by the great god! In battle, I predict the future!
“I know,” Leo said coldly. “I suffered like hell because of that ability.”
“But you’re not the only one who can predict the future in battle.”
Leo knew.
He knew another person who could predict the future in battle.
‘Arron.’
The Hero’s Supersense transcends even time.
A domain unique to Arron—one that even Leo, who learned Supersense from him, could never truly reach.
Even after Arron passed his Aura to Kyle, the Hero of Beginnings still couldn’t reach the Hero’s domain within Supersense.
But there had been a moment—only for an instant—when Kyle had set foot there.
‘The final battle.’
Leo’s eyes flashed.
His Aura combusted.
Every sense sharpened to a razor’s edge.
Thump-thump-thump-
The pounding of his heart grew louder.
The instant he heard it, everything in his vision began to slow.
No—Kyle’s perception was transcending time.
‘It’s impossible for me now to set foot in Arron’s domain again.’
In Leo’s vision, Jormungandr was overtaking him.
‘But…’
Veins bulged around Leo’s eyes.
Thump… thump… thump…
His heartbeat slowed.
‘For just an instant—surpassing Jormungandr is…’
Thump—
‘Possible.’
His heart stopped.
No—that was what it felt like.
At that moment, Jormungandr cried out in shock.
-Impossible! A being that surpasses my perception!
“That precious future prediction of yours,” Leo snapped, “doesn’t work on someone who sees one step ahead of you!”
-Do you believe such an absurd monster exists?!
“There’s one right in front of you, isn’t there?”
Leo sneered.
“And if I’m faster than you, it’s impossible for the likes of you to catch up.”
His red eyes flashed.
“Struggle all you want. Crawl on the ground to your heart’s content, Gluttony King.”
-You baaaastard!
Jormungandr’s furious roar shook the air.
Kugugugugugung-!
As if coiling, Jormungandr curled into a circle and began to spin.
Zzzzzing-!
Dark Mana shimmered from its body.
-I’ll wipe you out along with this entire area!
Kwa-ga-ga-ga-ga-ga-gak-!
A massive vortex of dark Mana formed with Jormungandr at its center.
A calamity that pulverized everything around it.
Leo felt the air being dragged toward Jormungandr.
Leo pulled on Albus’s reins.
Crackle-crackle-crackle-crackle-crackle-!
Crimson flames wrapped around Albus, who was cloaked in pure white Divine Lightning.
-The Phoenix Flame?
Albus stiffened in shock.
The pure white pegasus’s wings ignited.
They looked like the blazing wings of a phoenix.
Zerdinger’s Flame enveloped Albus, her power amplified by Leo.
Like a weapon strengthened by Aura—
Albus had gained the mighty Phoenix Flame.
-My goodness…!
Albus’s eyes widened.
“I told you I might have to get rough, didn’t I?”
-Ugh?!
The flames seared her wings.
A phoenix is a Summoned Beast that immolates itself to annihilate wicked foes.
The Phoenix Flame brought pain even to Albus.
“Sorry. Bear with it.”
-I’ve made a contract with an absurd Oathbound!
Albus beat her flaming wings.
“It’s not over. Silload! Enhancement Magic!”
-Y-Yes!
A fairy’s magic circle spread across Albus’s white body.
Flex-!
Veins bulged on Leo’s forehead as he maintained Supersense and forced every last drop of Aura and Spirit Energy into place.
-Incredible…
Silload stared at Leo in stunned awe as he continued enhancing Albus without pause.
But Leo still didn’t stop.
“Elci.”
Gwoooooooh-!
Black Mana erupted from Elci.
“Crush him.”
-Yes.
Elci spread her arms.
Squeeze-!
-Hup?!
Jormungandr’s body froze.
Something was binding it.
-What is this pathetic trick?!
It twisted, trying to break free.
But despite its terrifying strength, Jormungandr couldn’t move an inch.
‘You—what did you do?!’
Its glaring eyes flicked to its shadow.
Crunch- crunch- crunch-
The shadow was crumpling.
Like someone was kneading it at will.
Jormungandr’s shadow began to compress into a single point.
And as it did, Jormungandr’s body was crushed along with it.
‘The shadow!’
Realizing what held it, Jormungandr turned its eyes to Leo—riding a pegasus spewing lightning and flame.
‘He can handle a pegasus, a fairy, and even the Great Spirit of Darkness… What is he?!’
Meanwhile—
Drip-!
Blood trickled from Leo’s eyes.
-Kyle! Are you all right?
Albus asked urgently.
“I’m fine. I just…”
Leo tugged the reins.
“…pushed a little past my limits.”
Crackle-crackle! Fwoooosh! Gwoooooooh!
Trailing Divine Lightning and flame, Leo charged in with Albus.
Whoosh!
Darkness fell over the world.
Charging at the colossal Jormungandr, Leo looked like a tiny, fragile speck of light.
The instant that threadlike light pierced the darkness and struck Jormungandr—
FLASH-! KWA-GA-GA-GA-GA-GA-GA-GANG!
A tremendous flash carved out a massive crater.
Kugugugugugugugung-!
A huge shockwave swept across the area.
Giant trees bent away from the blast—then tore free, roots and all.
A terrifying destructive force.
A single blow squeezed out by pushing a Summoned Beast King to its absolute limit.
Amid the flames and Divine Lightning soaring skyward—
Leo rose into the air.
-That was amazing.
“Yeah.”
Leo answered Elci’s murmur, tightening his grip on the reins.
-But it’s not over.
Albus said coolly.
Kugugugugu-
-Khuhuhuhuhuhuhuhu.
A low laugh seeped from the center of the explosion.
-Khahahahahahahahaha!
A crazed laugh erupted.
Jormungandr surged up, eyes rolled back.
Its body had melted and fused together, its face hideously warped.
Despite the terrifying regenerative power of a legion commander, the wounds left by the pegasus’s Divine Lightning and the Phoenix Flame wouldn’t properly close.
But even so—
Jormungandr was still standing.
The blow Leo had delivered by squeezing out every last bit of power had been incredible.
But it was nowhere near enough to defeat Jormungandr.
-I’ll chew you up and swallow you, no matter what it takes!
Jormungandr’s eyes flashed.
It glared at Leo with hateful intent.
Nothing else mattered.
It would annihilate Leo first—no matter what it took.
“The first condition has been met.”
The crazed Jormungandr would now attack Leo until he was dead.
“I’m counting on you, Lysinas.”
