“Th-The Fallen One….”
“Is he really dead? The Apostle of Resurrection…?”
“The Fallen One, defeated by those brats! Th-This can’t be happening!”
Eden’s executives gulped, staring at the ground where The Fallen One had turned to dust. Their faces showed utter disbelief at his death.
“Hoo.”
Raon gently set Evelyn down and stood up, examining the spot where The Fallen One had died.
‘Is he really dead this time?’
He forced his unstable Aura to spread his Aura Sense, but he couldn’t feel The Fallen One’s energy anywhere.
‘Wrath.’
Raon gestured to Wrath, who was stroking his chin.
-Hmm….
Wrath squinted, looking down into the hole that was as deep as the Abyss.
-This King can’t feel that masked bastard’s energy either. It seems to have vanished completely.
He nodded, adding that it seemed he was truly dead this time.
‘What about when he was burned earlier?’
-Back then, a little of the masked bastard’s Mana was still scattered in the air.
Wrath’s eyes shifted slightly.
-I thought he might be dead, but he also might have been alive.
He lowered his brows, explaining that he hadn’t said anything because the situation had been ambiguous.
‘So now…’
-It seems highly likely that he’s dead.
Wrath nodded, confirming that not only The Fallen One’s Formula but also all traces of his Mana had disappeared.
‘He’s not going to be resurrected again, is he?’
-It would be difficult for him to do it alone, though it might be possible if someone else helps him.
Wrath shook his head calmly.
-The resurrection he used just now wasn’t something that can be used through normal means.
He lowered his finger, adding that The Fallen One wouldn’t be able to use that method of resurrection again right away.
‘That’s a relief.’
Raon let out a long sigh and nodded.
“Looks like it’s really over this time.”
Larian nodded as if she had read his mind.
“You can relax now.”
She waved her hand, telling him to rest.
“Is it…”
Evelyn forced her exhausted legs to move, approaching his side.
“Is it all over?”
Her playful demeanor was gone, replaced by a serious gaze as she stared at the ground where The Fallen One had died.
“Yeah. I think it’s over.”
Raon looked at Evelyn and nodded.
“Really?”
Evelyn asked again about The Fallen One’s death, as if she still couldn’t believe it. Blood was still trickling from her nose and mouth.
“Yes. It’s over.”
Raon calmly closed his eyes and opened them again. With both Wrath and Larian confirming it, he answered with conviction.
“Th-Thank you….”
Evelyn brought her trembling hands together and managed to say thank you.
“Mom will be so grateful, too.”
Her eyes reddened as if she was thinking of Sella.
“You don’t have to thank me. You’re the one who killed The Fallen One.”
If he had fought alone, the Sphere of Emptiness the bastard had fired at the end would have turned him to dust instead.
The reason he could kill The Fallen One wasn’t because he was strong, but thanks to Evelyn’s ability to analyze magic.
“Haaah….”
Evelyn exhaled a breath tinged with the scent of blood and collapsed to the ground again.
“How should I put this? I can’t believe it. I feel like he’s going to come back to life and glare at me again.”
She covered her face with her hands, her heart seemingly softened by her recovered memories.
“It’s okay.”
Raon reached out and placed a hand on Evelyn’s shoulder.
“Even if he shows up again, I’ll just kill him.”
He comforted Evelyn, telling her that even if The Fallen One came back to life, he would cut his throat again.
“How reassuring.”
Evelyn smiled faintly and nodded.
“But I feel a little cold.”
She shivered, her whole body trembling.
“Is it because of the blood loss….”
Evelyn had lost enough blood to have died instantly, so despite her awakening, she was not in good condition.
“Wait just a moment.”
Raon took Evelyn’s hand and transferred the heat of the Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation to her.
“A hug would be nice, but….”
Evelyn’s lips curled into a faint smile as she squeezed his hand.
“Just holding hands like this is pretty romantic, too, don’t you think?”
She smiled brightly, as if anything was fine by her.
“You were joking again?”
Raon frowned and shook his head.
However, having seen in her memories why she had become so forward, he couldn’t bring himself to push her away.
“Quit your flirting, you brats! Go do that somewhere else!”
Larian’s brow furrowed in annoyance.
“It’s not like that.”
Raon shook his head, let go of Evelyn’s hand, and stood up.
“Don’t move. Just rest.”
Larian shook her head, saying she would take care of the rest.
“No. I’ll fight, too.”
Raon shook his head and raised the Heavenly Drive.
‘I have to fight until the end.’
Larian had used Transcendent Magic to transport him here and then held off The Fallen One and the fiend-masked figures by herself.
She might look fine, but she had to be exhausted on the inside. It was only natural to help her.
“Me too….”
Evelyn struggled to her feet, as if to say she would fight as well.
“That’s enough. Lie down.”
Raon pressed on Evelyn’s shoulder, making her lie back down on the ground.
“You need to rest.”
He wiped the blood flowing from Evelyn’s nose and mouth with a handkerchief and shook his head.
“This isn’t so bad, either.”
Evelyn smiled, saying it reminded her of the old days.
“Those days might have been happy, but things will get even better from now on.”
Raon told Evelyn that she would be even happier from now on and gave her a nod.
“Wait, was that a proposal?”
Evelyn gasped as if she couldn’t believe it.
“Oh my, I’m not ready yet! Should we book a venue first?”
“Never mind….”
Raon shook his head and stood up.
-Unless there’s another memory we didn’t see, it’s hard to go that crazy….
Wrath narrowed his eyes, certain there had to be something more between the memories.
‘I don’t know.’
And he didn’t want to think about it.
He took a short breath and walked toward the battlefield where Eden’s Fiends stood.
“I will join you!”
Mark Gorton followed behind him, offering his help.
“Yes. I’d appreciate it.”
Raon smiled faintly and nodded. He allowed it, thinking it would be helpful for Mark Gorton as well.
“Let’s end this as quickly as possible.”
He summoned the chill of Glacier over the Heavenly Drive and charged toward Eden’s Fiends.
Chwaaaaaaaak!
Though his body and mind were greatly exhausted, his sword, clad in his unyielding will, split Eden’s Fiends in two, masks and all.
“Here, today….”
Raon stepped over the falling Eden’s Fiends and stomped down hard.
“I will erase the name of Eden!”
—
“Hah….”
Larian let out a dry laugh as she watched Raon push back Eden’s Fiends.
‘Is that guy really human?’
Raon had broken through countless of Eden’s Fiends, shattered the Demon Slayer Spear, and then come here to defeat The Fallen One.
Even after such a fierce battle, he seemed to have energy left over and was now dealing with the remaining remnants of Eden. It was so absurd that she was at a loss for words.
‘If I just leave him be, he’ll probably clean everything up himself, won’t he?’
Even though Raon was heavily injured and exhausted, he was a transcendent being. It seemed he could handle all of Eden’s Fiends below on his own.
‘I really want to dissect him.’
Larian licked her lips.
‘What kind of structure does his mind have?’
For a mage, mental strength was a crucial factor. She wanted to find out how Raon possessed such a strong will.
‘Should I study not just Raon, but Merlin as well?’
Since she had earned the right to ask a favor of Raon, it seemed entirely possible.
‘First, the experiment…’
Just as Larian was smiling to herself, thinking about what kind of experiment to prepare…
Paaaaaaang!
A scythe wreathed in black smoke dropped down, aiming for her neck.
Kaaaaang!
Larian parried the black scythe with a dagger, her brows lowering.
“I was going to kill you anyway. Why the rush?”
She clicked her tongue at the Devouring Fiend, who held the eerie scythe aloft.
“He will never die. He will return and tear your soul to shreds.”
The Devouring Fiend ground his teeth, as if he didn’t believe The Fallen One was dead.
“I will kill all of you and await his return!”
As he raised the scythe above his head, the air split with a black current. The sky turned dark, as if the Wraith King’s soul-plundering ability had been greatly enhanced.
“That’s not going to happen.”
Larian gathered five daggers in her right hand.
“Because you’re going to die right now.”
“Nonsense! Your magic won’t work on me anymore!”
The Devouring Fiend summoned a black current that wrapped around his entire body. Unlike before, there seemed to be no opening to pierce with magic.
Woooooong!
Not only her own Mana, but the Mana of nature was also sucked into the Devouring Fiend’s black scythe, and a grand, sinister energy began to bloom.
“Die!”
The Devouring Fiend screamed and swung the scythe horizontally.
Fwooooooong!
A sharp slash that tore through space. But the real danger was the black current that could sever a person’s soul.
“The ones who are about to die are usually the ones who say that.”
As Larian raised her fingertips, the five daggers vanished, and a single white dagger radiating a brilliant light appeared.
Poooooooooow!
The dagger of light instantly shattered the pitch-black slash and tore a hole through the Devouring Fiend’s chest.
Kwarreuk!
It wasn’t a small hole like before. A hole the size of a grown man’s head opened up, and a gruesome amount of blood poured out.
“Keoheuk….”
The Devouring Fiend, stunned by the dagger’s power, stared not at the wound in his chest but at Larian, his lips trembling.
“I told you. I’m on a different level than you.”
With a flick of Larian’s hand, the Devouring Fiend’s head, along with his mask, was sent flying.
Thud.
The corpse of the Devouring Fiend, missing its head and heart, fell limply to the ground like an autumn leaf.
Woooooong!
When Larian tapped the dagger of light with her finger, the five daggers reappeared before her eyes.
“Hmm….”
Larian licked her lips and looked down. In that short time, Raon had dealt with Eden’s remnants and was now approaching the executives who had fallen back.
“Is it all over….”
The moment Larian said it was over, her eyes trembled, and she pulled her hood back on.
“I-I want to go home….”
She began to stutter like she did during the Five Kings’ meetings, her shoulders slumping.
“F-First, I’ll just grab the scythe.”
Larian cautiously glanced around before descending to the ground to retrieve the black scythe.
—
“Heh….”
Raon let out a dry laugh as he watched Larian, who was now hunched over, holding the black scythe.
‘Does she really have a split personality?’
Seeing Larian, who had confidently pressured The Fallen One and effortlessly torn the Devouring Fiend apart, suddenly become so timid, he could only think that she must have another personality.
‘I’ll have to ask Chamber later.’
Glenn probably wouldn’t know, so he figured he’d have to ask Chamber to find out Larian’s secret.
-Just hurry up and finish this!
Wrath’s brow furrowed, telling him to worry about that later and deal with the Eden members in front of him.
-This King is hungry! That memory was far too long!
He let out a foul breath, complaining that the time spent in Evelyn’s memory felt so long that it was like he hadn’t eaten in over a month.
‘Don’t rush me.’
Raon pushed Wrath away and straightened his back.
‘I need to focus from now on.’
The ones before him now were Eden’s executives. There were even Grand Masters among them, so even in his exhausted state, he had to fight with all his might.
“You monster….”
An executive wearing a bull’s helmet trembled, holding a large hammer. Among those remaining, this man was the strongest.
“Anyone can see that you’re the monsters here.”
Raon took a short breath and raised the Heavenly Drive.
Fwooooosh!
Just as he was about to unleash the Frost Pond with the chill of Glacier to kill the bull-helmed man as quickly as possible…
Kaaaaang!
A strange sound came from above his head. He looked up to see a crimson bell floating alone, swaying in the wind.
‘No way…’
The Fallen One’s sturdy body had crumbled to dust, yet the bell that had been in his possession was completely unscathed. It was astonishing.
‘And why is it suddenly making a sound?’
The crimson bell swayed gently, producing a bizarre sound.
It was a sound so beautiful it could make one smile, but strangely, an eerie chill ran down his spine.
It was ominous. Every time the clear bell chimed, a sense of dread, as if his heart was sinking, enveloped his entire body.
‘This is dangerous…’
He didn’t know the bell’s name or its purpose, but he knew one thing for certain: he couldn’t let it keep ringing. His very soul was warning him to destroy it.
Hwaaaaaaaang!
Raon spun around urgently. He gathered his remaining energy onto the sword energy of the Heavenly Drive and unleashed the Heavenly Flame: Flame Dragon Break toward the crimson bell.
Kuwahhhhhhhhh!
A heat that seemed to set the sky ablaze shot out, swallowing the crimson bell.
An enormous amount of smoke billowed up, and the sound stopped abruptly, as if the bell had melted.
‘Did I stop it?’
The sound was gone. Thankfully, it seemed he had stopped it before a disaster could occur.
-Raon….
Just as Raon was about to let out a sigh of relief, Wrath’s grim voice reached him.
Fwoooosh.
The black smoke created by the Heavenly Flame: Flame Dragon Break slowly began to settle, revealing the figure of a person standing within it.
Thump!
The moment Raon saw him, he stopped breathing. It wasn’t of his own will. His entire body, every cell, refused to obey him as if it wasn’t his own.
‘What kind of human aura is this…’
He didn’t seem human. His aura was dark and annihilating, as if it contained the sky itself—a night sky filled with deep darkness. His soul trembled before it.
But he couldn’t run, nor could he look away. He couldn’t move a single finger, as if his limbs had been nailed down.
Fwoooosh.
The black smoke scattered, revealing the man who was emitting the despair-inducing aura.
He wore a crimson robe over his shoulders, which shimmered faintly as if covered in scales. It didn’t feel like a cheap accessory but exuded an ancient, antique-like atmosphere.
He wore the helmet of a red dragon on his face. Unlike a typical dragon, ten horns of various sizes sprouted from around its head.
The finishing touch. As flame-like eyes flashed from within the dragon helmet, an absolute aura that no one could ever reach blanketed the heavens and the earth.
Kugugugugugu!
Even while operating the Ring of Fire and his Aura, his body bent on its own, and his heart constricted tightly. It felt as if his mind was being twisted by the overwhelming force.
Kurrrk.
Blood rose in his throat and spurted from his lips. The man’s aura alone had caused internal injuries.
Kiiiiiiing!
In the man’s hand was the black bell he had failed to burn. Its chime, now imbued with an even clearer tone than before, spread out.
Gooooooooo!
His gaze bent down toward him. As Raon met the unquenchable flames of his eyes, like the fires of hell, a foul feeling of his soul being read by him brushed against his skin.
‘This man is…’
Raon bit his lip until it bled, staring at the red dragon mask.
‘The Heavenly Demon.’
The earth trembled as if in awe of his existence, and the sky rippled as if quaking in fear.
The one born a demon who ascended to the heavens.
The absolute master of demonic arts, to whom this world had bestowed the name Heavenly Demon, was standing before his very eyes.
‘One of Eden’s pillars? Absolutely not. This man is…’
Raon swallowed dryly, looking at the absolute being of nothingness who erased the presence of all things in the universe.
He is Eden.
