The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman - Chapter 633
Delphros frowned as he stared into the crystal ball reflecting Raon’s image.
“Is he really taking that phoenix with him?”
“It seems so,” the spy commander replied, holding his temple as if he couldn’t believe Raon was dragging the phoenix along.
“Sigh, he’s truly uncontrollable,” Delphros muttered, exhaling deeply. He couldn’t fathom that Raon would think of bringing the gatekeeper along. Even their master hadn’t considered such a bizarre idea.
“…Are the preparations complete?” he asked, his irritation showing through his furrowed brow.
“Of course,” the spy commander nodded confidently.
“No matter which direction they go, they will encounter waves of formations, traps, and monsters.”
“Good. This time, they won’t escape easily,” Delphros said, nodding as he looked back at the crystal ball.
He had no intention of killing Raon in the maze. The other floors were merely appetizers for the final floor. The goal was to drain their stamina and aura as much as possible.
“Foolish boy,” Delphros scoffed as he watched Raon try to go over the maze wall.
The wall was constructed from thought essence that even transcendent beings couldn’t guarantee they could break. Seeing Raon’s futile attempt lightened his mood somewhat.
“So, it begins. I wonder what expression he will… Hmm?” Delphros’s lips quivered as he continued watching.
“What the… What’s that?” he stammered.
Instead of advancing through the maze, Raon had placed his hand on the wall. Intrigued, Delphros had watched him intently. Suddenly, a mystical flame-engraved door opened on the wall.
Not just one door, but the same type of passage opened at the maze’s end as well. Raon’s flame passage connected directly to the maze’s end.
“What is that!”
“I don’t know, sir,” the spy commander stammered, his teeth chattering as he admitted he’d never seen such a passage before.
“Could it be…” Delphros clenched his fist as he looked at the subdued phoenix, Kayaan.
“Did that phoenix reveal the hidden passage?” When the phoenix was subdued, it mentioned a dimensional door to pass through the maze. It seemed Raon had opened that very door.
“Even our master couldn’t achieve this…” Delphros muttered in disbelief. Derus Robert had opened a similar door but had taken three attempts to reach the maze’s end. Raon had opened a direct passage with one attempt, an unbelievable feat.
“Stop him.”
“What?”
“I said stop him!”
Delphros slammed his fist on the table, shattering it into powder.
‘We can’t let him get away.’
If Raon escaped, all the traps and monsters prepared in the maze would be rendered useless, an unbearable loss.
“It’s no use,” the spy commander said, manipulating mana but shaking his head.
“I tried to block the passage when it first appeared, but my manipulation abilities don’t work. I believe it’s the creator’s unique power.”
“How could he…” Delphros clenched his fist so tightly that it creaked. Raon hadn’t even known of this tomb’s existence until recently. How he opened the passage was beyond comprehension.
“Are there any commanders in the maze?”
“Snow Queen is nearby. She’s been exploring the maze and hasn’t descended, despite having opportunities.”
“Send her there.”
“But… if she meets Raon Zieghart, he will die,” the spy commander objected.
The Snow Queen was an exceptionally skilled fighter who had been renowned long before Raon. Even though Raon was a Grandmaster, defeating her would be impossible.
“Letting him escape our control is a greater problem,” Delphros shook his head.
“We can manipulate the corpse as needed. One Raon is manageable.”
“…Understood.”
“And…”
He took a breath, raising his finger.
“Prepare the fourth floor as well.”
Delphros’s face twisted with a demonic expression as he bit his lip.
“Ensure he doesn’t survive!”
* * *
Raon narrowed his eyes as he observed the demons behind the Snow Queen.
‘They’ve grown stronger.’
The demons emanated fiercer auras than they had outside. It seemed they had also grown a bit as they passed through the first and second floors.
“What the hell? Black Tower scum?” Martha sneered as she spotted the demons.
“Trash delivered itself,” she said, rotating her wrist with a fierce air.
“How fortunate,” Burren said, smiling as if they had gotten lucky.
“A perfect test subject,” Runaan muttered, eager to test her improved skills.
“Compared to a phoenix, they’re nothing,” Raon said.
“I still haven’t forgotten Orgos,” Martha added.
“They’re harmful just by existing. No one will blame us for removing them,” Burren added.
The Light Wind Division, their eyes filled with confidence, stared down the demons of the Black Tower.
The swordsmen, recalling their encounter with Flame Demon General, burned with a desire for revenge. [1]
“Arrogant brats!”
“You dare…!”
“Give us the order! We’ll tear them apart!”
The Black Tower demons, enraged by the Light Wind Division’s confidence, bowed their heads, awaiting orders from the Snow Queen.
“Hah, do they resemble their master? The dogs are cocky,” the Snow Queen scoffed.
“If you see prey and do nothing, you’re not a mad dog,” Raon said, his eyes gleaming with madness as he raised a finger.
“Light Wind Division,” he said, pointing at the demons behind the Snow Queen.
“Rip them apart.”
“Yes, sir!”
The Light Wind Division drew their swords and charged at the demons, their eyes gleaming with the same madness as Raon’s.
“Wait! We’re not dogs…!”
“Stop calling us dogs!”
“I like puppies,” Runaan added.
Martha, Burren, and Runaan each said something as they moved.
Boom!
Martha’s powerful strike shattered the demons’ dark energy barrier. Burren’s precise and sharp blade cut through the gaps, slicing the demons’ necks.
Runaan walked between Martha and Burren, stabbing Snow Flower forward. The frosty tip of her sword fluttered like cherry blossoms, cutting through the demons’ vital points.
“Let’s go!”
Following the path opened by the three leaders, the Light Wind Division clashed head-on with the demons.
Boom!
The explosion of dozens of auras and demonic energies sent the sand of the maze flying like a storm.
“Ugh…”
“What kind of people are they?”
“I heard they were just past twenty. How…”
As the storm settled, it was the demons who were pushed back.
The Light Wind Division, united as one, compressed their auras to crush the demons’ dark energy. Their momentum was on a different level.
“They have no charm,” the Snow Queen said, tilting her head nonchalantly, even as her demons were being slaughtered.
“I’ll show you the difference in power. Both of you, come here,” she said, beckoning Raon and Rimmer.
“Can you handle it?” Raon glanced at Rimmer and chuckled.
“Against an old hag and a young brat? Anytime,” the Snow Queen said confidently.
“Don’t underestimate him just because he looks young,” Rimmer warned with a faint smile.
“She reached Grandmaster long before you were born. She has the right to say such things. If you see her real face, it’s all wrinkles and…”
“Shut up!” the Snow Queen snapped, her finger pointed at Rimmer. She seemed more irritated by the “old hag” comment than anything else.
“I have a bad memory of the Black Tower,” Raon said, lowering the Heavenly Sword as he looked at the Snow Queen.
“Consider yourself unlucky.”
“Shut up!” she screamed, stomping her foot in frustration.
Boom!
Taking advantage of her agitated state, Raon launched into Supreme Harmony Steps without any preparatory movements, exploding aura from the tip of his left foot.
An extreme speed that made the edges of his vision darken.
“Foolish boy,” she sneered as Raon charged to slash her. She quickly regained her composure and stretched out her left hand, summoning black frost that shot like a dagger. A near-perfect counterattack.
Raon bit his lip as he watched the Snow Queen’s frost aiming for his heart.
‘As I thought, it was a trap.’
She was a Grandmaster, a renowned expert for many years. Her apparent anger had been a ruse, as he had suspected.
Crack!
Just before the frost pierced his heart, Raon switched to Three Steps of Supreme Harmony. The transition from speed to smoothness allowed him to slip past her attack, missing it by a hair’s breadth.
“What the…!”
The Snow Queen’s eyes widened, not expecting such a swift transition.
‘This is real.’
Unlike her earlier feigned excitement, her surprise now was genuine.
Using the momentary gap caused by her shock, Raon moved to her left and thrust the Heavenly Sword like a drill.
Ssshhh!
The red glow of his sword brushed past her shoulder.
“Tsk,” Raon clicked his tongue as he retreated. His initial target had been her neck, but she had twisted her body in that brief moment to avoid a fatal blow.
“This brat…”
The Snow Queen frowned at the wound on her shoulder. As she summoned her dark energy, the bleeding stopped and the wound vanished as if time had reversed. Her regenerative ability was beyond human.
“Not as impressive as I heard. Your thought essence is weak, and your aura is ordinary.”
“Say that with a straight face,” Raon said with a thin smile, glancing at her twisted, angry expression.
“Wrinkles are showing.”
“Shut up!” she screamed, extending her hand. Black frost extended from her hand, spreading like a dark veil.
Crack!
In an instant, the Snow Queen’s dark energy began to dominate the space. Even when Raon spread the flames of mana, the frost didn’t melt easily. The amount and density of her dark energy were overwhelming.
“Wait!”
“Argh!”
“Spare me!”
The legs of the demons exposed to her frost turned black and froze solid. They cried out for mercy, but the Snow Queen ignored them, intensifying her dark energy.
Raon drew her attention away from the Light Wind Division, retreating to a corner while spreading the mana flame to block her dark energy from freezing the floor and walls.
“It’s useless. My frost cannot be blocked by flames or cold,” the Snow Queen declared.
As she said, her dark energy did not melt even under the mana flame.
‘Come to think of it…’
Raon recalled the scenes he had seen before entering this tomb, in the desert and the forest. Even when surrounded by strong flames and lightning, that black frost had not disappeared.
“You knew you’d end up cornered,” she said.
“What?”
“You can’t escape now. The only thing left for you is to kneel before me!” she shouted as she spread her arms wide.
The dark energy that enveloped the area rose simultaneously, forming a massive wave. She intended to end it all by pouring her condensed dark energy in one go.
Raon gazed calmly at the approaching wave of dark energy.
‘Now.’
He had anticipated this kind of attack since she started spreading her frost around. This must be her finishing move that had never failed before. But her belief in its infallibility would be her downfall.
Instead of retreating, Raon advanced toward the wave of frost, drawing the Heavenly Sword behind his shoulder.
“What are you doing? You can’t reach me from there!” the Snow Queen sneered as she saw him approaching.
Ignoring her mockery, Raon enveloped his sword with the cold energy of Glacier, mingled with his own aura.
‘The blade under the twilight does not waver before the wave,’ he murmured a single line to himself as he thrust the Heavenly Sword forward.
The blue-glowing blade pierced through the wave of frost, splitting the silver space as it moved.
Slash!
The frost wave, which seemed to fill the entire maze, remained unscathed. However, the left side of the Snow Queen’s chest had a dark hole punched through it.
“Gah…”
She collapsed, coughing up blood. She tried to stop the bleeding with her dark energy, but the black hole ignored her power and remained open.
“Why… is this happening…”
“You told me yourself. Your frost and my frost are different,” Raon said, shaking his head as he looked at the Snow Queen.
“It’s not about the difference in strength but rather a phenomenon like oil and water that don’t mix. If your frost lodges in your chest, it’s natural that your dark energy can’t block it.”
The Snow Queen had mentioned earlier that her dark energy could not be blocked by flames or frost. It implied that her frost would also be ineffective against Raon’s. In a way, they were each other’s counter.
“Ah…”
Understanding dawned on the Snow Queen’s trembling lips.
“Your mouth was your downfall,” Raon said, approaching her with the Heavenly Sword ready.
“Wait! I haven’t used my full power yet! It’s not over!” she screamed.
She was right. The Snow Queen had not shown her full power. If they had fought head-on, Raon would have had to use everything, including the Heavenly Steps.
Fighting with all their might could have allowed Raon to grow more, but he needed to conserve his strength as much as possible to deal with Derus’s unknown plans.
“Giving time is something only fools do,” Raon said, mimicking the sneer she had given him earlier, and thrust the Heavenly Sword into her chest.
Boom!
The sacred golden flames devoured the black frost, burning the Snow Queen entirely.
“I will kill you! I will never forgive you!” she shrieked.
“Try if you can,” Raon scoffed, slicing her throat.
Slash!
She died with her eyes open, unable to believe her demise.
Raon lifted his gaze after ending her life.
“How did he kill a Grandmaster so quickly…”
“Is this even possible?”
“And it’s not just any demon, but the Snow Queen…”
The Light Wind Division and the demons had stopped fighting and were watching in shock.
The demons gaped, unable to speak, overwhelmed by fear.
“If you don’t finish in five minutes, we’ll train here,” Raon said, wiggling his finger.
The Light Wind Division’s eyes rekindled with madness.
“Kill them all!”
“Trample them!”
“Destroy everything!”
The Light Wind Division’s swords clashed with the demons, a whirlwind of powerful attacks resuming.
Listening to the rhythmic sound of clashing swords, Raon lowered his eyes.
‘I’ve gotten a little closer.’
By creating a single line of incantation, he had managed to pierce the space and bypass defenses, stepping closer to mastering the technique.
‘I received unintended help.’
Raon smiled faintly, looking up at the maze’s ceiling.
‘You must be up there.’
It made no sense for the Snow Queen to appear as soon as he reached the maze’s end. It was clear that Derus’s subordinates had manipulated the situation.
‘Wait for me.’
Whatever their plans, he intended to ruin them all.
