The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman - Chapter 677
Raon swallowed dryly as he watched the slowly falling pieces of frost.
“Demonic Manifestation…”
Did he really copy my Sword Realm Manifestation?
Wrath had always claimed to know nothing about formations or barriers. For someone who used to break everything with pure strength to now manipulate a barrier amplifying demonic energy, it was clear that he had mimicked my Sword Realm Manifestation.
“It is the formation I created after watching your martial arts and perseverance.”
Wrath nodded calmly, as if answering Raon’s unspoken question.
“How is it? Isn’t my Demonic Manifestation far more beautiful than your Sword Realm Manifestation?”
With a cool smile, Wrath placed a frost leaf in the palm of his hand.
“My Sword Realm Manifestation is much better, but I’ll admit, the Demonic Manifestation suits you,” Raon thought, nodding to himself.
“You won’t acknowledge it, but for me, *Snowflower* is the finest technique,” Wrath said, raising his chin proudly, as if his opinion wouldn’t change no matter what anyone said.
‘To be honest…’
Raon bit his lip slightly as he gazed at Wrath’s proud posture.
‘I never expected to hear something like that from you…’
Wrath had called his back the back of an unyielding swordsman. Raon had always thought that Wrath, with his overwhelming power, might secretly be mocking him during his training, but that was a big misunderstanding.
Wrath had recognized his perseverance and will from the start.
In fact, the slashes Wrath had unleashed with his *Snowflower* were imbued with the very basics of swordsmanship that Raon had practiced daily since he first grasped a sword.
Understanding Wrath’s sincerity made Raon’s heart burn with a new fire. It gave him a renewed certainty that he could climb even higher.
“Just wait a little longer. It’s not over yet,” Wrath said as he lifted his eyes, which were still filled with the light of winter.
“Greed, how long do you intend to play dead?”
Wrath flicked his finger toward the black sky.
“Let’s finish this before the lizards arrive.”
As if in response to his words, the moonlight split, revealing a single weathered gold coin.
“You’ve gotten quicker since last time.”
Greed’s leisurely voice flowed out of the dust-covered coin.
“Show yourself, Greed,” Wrath demanded.
“No need to rush.”
A soft white light emitted from the coin, and Greed returned to his original form. However, he looked worn out, his shirt torn to shreds and his body covered in wounds.
“The dragons won’t arrive immediately.”
“What do you mean?”
Wrath narrowed his eyes as he looked up at Greed.
“They ran into a little trouble,” Greed said, lightly tapping his wrist as if they would be delayed.
“What in the world have you been up to?”
“What else does a merchant do but make money? Although today’s losses are severe…”
Greed shook his hands lightly.
“After all, I had to spend a hundred million just to stay alive.”
“A hundred million?”
Raon let out a breath in disbelief at the figure.
‘Did he summon the scales again?’
It seemed that Greed had summoned his scales once more, pouring in a hundred million gold coins to survive Wrath’s Demonic Manifestation.
“The power of your barrier was fitting. Without the scales, I would’ve died for sure. But…”
Greed’s voice lowered to a deep, almost ominous tone.
“Next time will be different.”
His words carried not just confidence but absolute certainty.
“No, next time, it will be your head that falls,” he said, his golden eyes gleaming as he stared Wrath down.
“Hmm…”
Raon furrowed his brow as he observed Wrath, who remained still.
‘Is he reaching his limit?’
Just as Sword Realm Manifestation drains the entirety of a swordsman’s energy, Wrath’s Demonic Manifestation had likely consumed most of his demonic energy. He didn’t seem to have much time or power left.
“But Wrath…”
Greed chuckled as he leaned back in midair.
“That barrier you used. It looked similar to Zieghart’s Sword Realm Manifestation. Don’t tell me…”
His yellow eyes gleamed with amusement.
“Are you raising a human?”
“That merchant’s babbling nonsense again,” Wrath bared his white teeth in a grin as cold as the dawn snow.
“I raise no one. The unskilled ones merely gather under my wing. If you’re going to spout such garbage…”
Wrath raised his fingers menacingly.
“Ah, forget it. If we fight any longer, my vault will be empty. There’s no way a demon king would be raising a human anyway.”
“What do you mean by that ?” Wrath asked, his voice dark with suspicion.
“…”
Greed only smiled faintly without answering.
“I’ll be leaving now. If I stay any longer, I might end up as Gluttony’s next meal.”
“Chomp…”
Gluttony, watching Greed float in the air, licked her lips expectantly.
“Next time… Ah, you’ve arrived faster than I thought.”
Greed’s fingers froze mid-air as he looked to his right and left, then shrugged.
“Wrath, consider this the price for not recognizing you.”
As soon as Greed finished speaking, massive golden wings, as if made from stacks of gold coins, burst from his back. His overwhelming demonic energy once again blanketed the night sky.
Whooooosh!
With a presence that suppressed even Wrath and Gluttony, Greed shot off toward the west, followed closely by flashes of red and blue.
Raon squinted at the most prominent light of all, the golden radiance shining among the various colors.
‘Dragon Lord?’
It was a familiar aura. The Dragon Lord and other dragons had begun chasing after Greed.
‘So that’s what he meant by paying the price.’
It seemed Greed had decided to repay the price for doubting Wrath by luring the dragons to him.
‘He really is a merchant…’
Since Greed considered himself a businessman, this must have been his way of keeping his word.
Wrath watched the chase between Greed and the dragons for a moment before turning his gaze away.
He checked the condition of the unconscious Light Wind Division members beneath the frost tree, then walked over to Gluttony.
“Gluttony, suppress your demonic energy.”
“Why?”
Gluttony tilted her head, confused.
“If the lizards catch wind of us, it’ll become troublesome.”
“We can just eat them if they come. Like last time.”
She licked her lips again, clearly anticipating a repeat of their previous feast.
‘Wait…?’
Raon let out a small breath of disbelief.
‘Did they really eat a dragon together?’
Though it seemed absurd, with two voracious demon kings, it wasn’t entirely impossible.
“Click, click.”
Wrath clicked his tongue in disapproval.
“You’re still the same, scavenging rocks like some kind of beggar.”
“What else should I eat?”
Gluttony asked, all the while munching on a steel beam infused with demonic energy.
“You… Do you know about ice cream balls?” (TL Note: Oh my Wrath, don’t ever change. lol)
* * *
Wrath took Gluttony, who had now suppressed her demonic energy, to a shop that sold ice cream balls.
Although the ceiling had collapsed, the store was still standing thanks to the support columns inside.
“Come on in.”
Wrath beckoned Gluttony inside after confirming no one was around. He looked almost like a child inviting a friend over to his house.
“What’s ice cream?”
Gluttony asked, barely interested, nodding her chin toward the store.
“It’s the reason humans exist. A blessing from the demon gods.”
Wrath clasped his hands together reverently.
‘What nonsense…’
Raon chuckled to himself.
‘Since when did something humans made become a blessing from the demon gods?’
And calling it the reason humans exist? Raon was at a loss for words, the absurdity almost too much to bear.
“Hmmm.”
Wrath hummed to himself as he hopped over the counter and made his way to the freezer where the ice cream was kept.
The magic device was broken, causing the ice cream to melt slightly, but Wrath used his frost power to freeze it again.
“How I’ve longed for this!”
His face lit up with a look of ecstasy, as if he were welcoming a god, his breathing quickening.
“This is ice cream?”
Gluttony pouted, unimpressed by the small serving.
“It’s not about the quantity! Just eat it first!”
Wrath scowled at her, grabbing a spoon to scoop up the ice cream balls.
“I’ve waited so long for this moment.”
Tears pricked his eyes as he started scooping ice cream into the container. Even though it was his first time, his hands moved faster than the swiftest sword master.
‘This guy…’
Raon shook his head as he watched Wrath scoop the ice cream.
‘So he was saving his energy for this.’
While Greed had hidden his power, Wrath had also been holding back. And the reason was to eat ice cream here.
It seemed Wrath had been bitter about not getting to eat any during his last descent, when he had to return to his original form too soon.
This demon king was truly incorrigible in his gluttony.
“Finished!”
Wrath emerged from behind the counter, holding a box filled with every kind of ice cream ball. He handed one of the towering containers to Gluttony.
“Try it.”
“Um…”
Gluttony looked at the ice cream ball skeptically before summoning her white mouth.
“This is small. It’s bite-sized.”
She opened her white mouth slightly and tossed the ice cream in.
“You fool!”
Wrath couldn’t hold back and smacked Gluttony hard on the back of her head, the sound echoing inside the empty store.
“Ow…”
Gluttony bent her head forward, her eyes rolling in surprise.
“Why did you hit me?”
“That’s not how you eat it! Use your actual mouth!”
Wrath shook his head, as if he couldn’t understand why Gluttony didn’t know how to properly enjoy the ice cream.
‘Ugh…’
Raon also stared blankly at Wrath and Gluttony.
Despite their otherworldly appearances and powers, these demon kings were acting like complete fools.
“…”
Gluttony scratched the back of her head, dismissing the white mouth, and took a bite of the ice cream ball with her real mouth.
Crunch.
The sound of the ice cream crunching was followed by a flash of light in Gluttony’s once-dull eyes, now shining like rubies.
“…What is this?”
“Heh.”
Wrath nodded knowingly.
“This, my fellow glutton, is true flavor.”
He patted her shoulder as if he had mastered everything in the human realm.
“It’s delicious. Really delicious.”
Gluttony grinned as she started devouring the ice cream balls one after another.
“This one! The green ice cream! It’s the best!”
Wrath pointed at the mint chocolate ice cream, a large portion placed on top.
“Okay.”
Gluttony nodded and took a bite of the mint chocolate. But no sooner had she done so, she stuck her tongue out in disgust.
“I don’t like it.”
She shook her head for the first time.
“You tasteless idiot!”
‘Looks like she has good taste.’
Wrath frowned deeply, while Raon nodded in agreement.
‘Go ahead and enjoy it today.’
Raon smiled as he watched Wrath and Gluttony enjoy their ice cream.
‘You saved me, after all.’
Just as Raon thought Wrath deserved a bit more time to enjoy himself, the demon king muttered something quietly.
“Raon Zieghart, you’ll be paying for the ice cream.”
‘This bastard…’
* * *
Wrath and Gluttony only stopped after they had eaten every last bit of ice cream in the store.
Raon sighed as he looked at Wrath’s bloated stomach.
‘You’re definitely going to have an upset stomach today.’
Though it looked like Wrath’s body, it was still Raon’s in the end. There was no way eating all that ice cream on an empty stomach was going to end well.
“Ugh…”
After finishing all the ice cream, Gluttony even started munching on the steel container the ice cream had been stored in.
“This tastes like strawberries.”
She seemed pleased with the tiny bit of remaining ice cream left on the container.
“Gluttony, that’s enough. Let’s go.”
Wrath grabbed Gluttony by the scruff of her neck and dragged her out of the store.
“I forgot to mention, but I have something to tell you.”
“Tell me what?”
Gluttony tilted her head curiously.
“Do you remember what I said to you earlier?”
“What did you say?”
“I asked you to give me your power.”
Wrath chuckled slyly, waving his fingers.
‘Oh no!’
Raon’s eyes widened as he realized what Wrath was planning. Judging by Wrath’s smile, he was about to refuse Gluttony’s power.
‘That sneaky bastard…’
Wrath had only agreed to protect them from Greed, and now he wanted to turn down Gluttony’s power.
‘I need to push him out.’
Raon couldn’t afford to lose Gluttony’s power as well, especially after failing to obtain Greed’s.
He quietly gathered his soul’s force to the highest possible level.
“Actually…”
Just as Wrath was about to continue with a sly grin, Raon’s soul flared with the power of the fire ring, pushing Wrath out of his body and regaining control.
Fwoooosh!
The blue demon king’s body dissolved, revealing Raon’s original form.
“…What?”
Gluttony blinked in confusion, though she wasn’t surprised, having seen Raon’s transformation before.
“I mean, let’s get this over with quickly. Hand over your power.”
Raon raised his chin, mimicking Wrath’s arrogance.
—Cough! No, that’s not how it’s supposed to go!
Wrath, now returned to his cotton-candy form, coughed violently as he waved his arms in protest, but of course, Gluttony couldn’t hear him.
—This is terrible! I spent too much time eating!
Wrath wailed, lamenting the time wasted on ice cream.
‘Too bad for you.’
Raon ignored Wrath and focused on Gluttony, who was now holding his wrist.
Whoooooom!
Through her grasp, a sticky and hollow sensation began to seep into him.
It was similar to the feeling when he received the powers of Wrath, Sloth, and Envy, but also distinctly different.
Ssss…
As Gluttony released her grip, a white flower-shaped bracelet appeared on Raon’s wrist.
“It looks like the others.”
“I… A flower…”
Raon sighed deeply. In his dizzy state, he hadn’t had time to request a different form from Wrath.
—Damn it! That was the one thing you shouldn’t have given him!
Wrath groaned in frustration, clutching his head.
‘Well, what’s done is done.’
I’ll just have to get something else to make up for it.
“Gluttony.”
Raon lifted the white flower bracelet toward her.
“Can we unlock this quickly?”
“I’m getting hungry…”
“Then I’ll give you something so you can eat ice cream anywhere.”
“Something to eat ice cream with?”
“Yes.”
Raon nodded and pulled a pile of gold coins out of his subspace pocket.
—No, you can’t!
Wrath shook his head furiously.
—If you help that glutton, you’ll be ruined! He’ll destroy the Demon Realm!
“If you go to places that smell like ice cream and show them these coins, you’ll be able to eat as much as you want.”
Raon ignored Wrath and held up the gold coins for Gluttony to see.
“Ooh…”
Gluttony nodded, clearly pleased, as she touched the flower bracelet.
Fwoooosh.
As her hand left the bracelet, the white petals began to bloom with a soft, vibrant glow.
“You’ll be able to use it after a nap.”
“Thank you.”
Raon nodded as he handed the pile of gold coins to Gluttony.
—Argh, damn it!
Wrath gritted his teeth in frustration.
—That glutton and his gluttonous friend, who will now be able to eat even more ice cream, both infuriate me! Argh!
Wrath cursed them both as he flailed his fists in the air.
—At least there’s one good thing.
Wrath sighed, his anger slightly abating.
‘One good thing?’
—If you had gained Greed’s power as well, you really would have become a monster. It’s a relief I sent him away.
Wrath shook his head, saying he could acknowledge Raon’s perseverance but would never tolerate him hoarding all the benefits.
‘Wait, you sent him away on purpose?’
—Heh, I couldn’t stand watching you leech off everything…
Just as Wrath grinned triumphantly, a message window popped up.
[You have received the favor of <Gluttony>.]
[You have been acknowledged by <Wrath>.]
[You have repelled <Greed>.]
[You have accomplished an impossible feat.]
—Wait, no…
As Wrath trembled, more messages began to flood the window.
—No, stop!
Wrath let out a desperate cry.
—Most of that was my doing! Why is he getting the credit!?
‘With this much reward…’
Raon smirked as he looked down at the flower bracelet on his wrist.
‘It’s worth wearing!’
—Shut up!
(TL Note: Is it just me or Wrath is actually raising Raon but in a Tsun-Tsun way?)
