Chapter 945
“Whew .”
Raon laid the sleeping Olga down on the bed and let out a tired sigh.
‘Has morning already come?’
When he brought Olga into the training chamber, it was evening. Yet now, golden sunlight was spilling through the window. It seemed that her rebirth had taken over twelve hours.
‘No wonder I’m exhausted.’
He had spent twelve straight hours reconstructing another’s body using his own aura and the power of the elixirs. Even for a transcendent, it was natural to be completely drained.
– That’s not all! You didn’t even sleep the day before yesterday!
Wrath pointed to the dark circles under his eyes and ground his teeth.
– The day before yesterday you stayed up all night training, and last night you stayed up healing! Why don’t you just give up sleep for life!
He scowled, saying he hadn’t gotten a single wink because of him.
‘Sorry. And…’
Raon gave a faint smile and waved his hand.
‘Thanks.’
Wrath had stayed up two nights straight helping him create the foundation that allowed Olga to be healed. Though he always acted aloof, he was warmer than anyone Raon knew.
‘There’s a new batch of bead ice cream coming next week. Maybe I’ll buy him some then.’
Chiik!
After drawing the curtains so Olga could rest soundly, Raon left the room.
‘I’m really about to collapse. Better get some sleep right now.’
If it had just been lack of sleep for two days, he could’ve endured. But having burned through all his stamina and mental focus, he could no longer fight off the pull of sleep. He only wanted to reach his bed.
“Raon!”
Before he could even wash up, Sia ran up to him by the entrance.
“Let’s play!”
She tugged at his sleeve, saying they hadn’t played together yesterday so they should play today.
“Sorry.”
Raon patted her head and shook his head.
“I haven’t slept, so I really need to rest right now.”
A child like Sia might not understand, but it was all he could say.
“Hmm…”
Sia tilted her head, thinking for a moment, then took a step back.
“Then you’ll play with me after you wake up, right?”
Her big eyes blinked as if confirming that it would be okay later.
“Of course.”
“Then I’ll wait. Sleep well!”
Sia waved her hand energetically and ran off toward the waiting maids.
‘She’s really changed.’
Raon smiled softly as he watched her go.
‘She’s become a little more mature.’
In the past, she would have thrown a tantrum, insisting on playing right away. Now she understood his situation and accepted it. She was growing quickly, not just in body but in mind.
‘Ugh, my head hurts. I’ll think later. Sleep first.’
He opened the door, went inside, and flopped onto the bed.
– You mustn’t!
Just as he was about to drift off, a puff of blue cotton candy floated before his eyes.
– Eat first! If you don’t eat now, you’ll skip meals all day again!
Wrath frowned, insisting he couldn’t stand another day of hunger.
‘You’re thinking about food right now?’
– Of course! Food comes before sleep for the great me!
He lifted his chin as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
‘Why are you the Monarch of Wrath and not Gluttony?’
Raon pushed at his head with a trembling hand.
‘I’ll ask the Demon God about it when I visit the Demon Realm.’
Even in his state of exhaustion, Wrath’s obsession with food was baffling. No matter how he looked at it, Wrath’s Authority should have been Gluttony.
– Enough nonsense! Eat!
Wrath waved his hand toward the dining hall.
‘Can’t even lift a fork.’
Raon weakly shook his head.
– That’s why you need to eat!
Wrath shook his head hard.
– It’s not that I want food! It’s that you shouldn’t go to sleep hungry! Skipping meals at your age is bad!
‘Oh, give me a break.’
Raon let out a dry laugh.
‘That nonsense is enough to wake me up.’
There was no way Wrath was concerned for his health—he just wanted to eat.
– I-I mean it! It’s for your health!
‘So, you’re saying I shouldn’t sleep on an empty stomach?’
– Exactly! Eat something, anything!
Wrath nodded quickly with hopeful eyes.
‘Then don’t worry.’
Raon smirked and took out his dimensional pouch.
‘There’s plenty of food here to fill us up.’
– R-Really? When did you prepare that!
Wrath licked his lips, visibly delighted.
‘The best food to fill your belly in an instant.’
He reached into the pouch and pulled out a brown loaf of bread.
– W-Wait! That’s Nadine Bread!
Wrath waved both hands frantically.
“Correct.”
– S-Stop!
Ignoring him, Raon bit into the bread.
The burnt rubber smell spread instantly as the rock-hard bread filled his mouth. In moments, his stomach felt full. As always, the power of Nadine Bread was beyond comprehension.
– Urghhh….
Wrath collapsed, face pale, as if the bread had stolen his will to live.
– You cursed fool!
He wiped his tongue on his palm, tears welling up.
– The best food? Lies! It’s the worst thing in the history of humankind! Not even fit for compost!
He bit his lip, vowing the bread should be eradicated from existence.
‘Better get used to it.’
Raon chuckled at the furious demon.
‘You’ll be eating it for a while once we enter the cave.’
– You mentioned that cave again! What cave?!
‘That’s…’
Sleep hit him like a wave before he could finish. He fell unconscious immediately.
– Grrr….
Wrath clenched his fists, trembling with fury as he stared at the sleeping human.
– I refuse to be mocked by this human any longer! I’ll die first!
He pretended to strangle himself dramatically, but when Raon didn’t stir, he sighed and crawled under the blanket.
– When you wake up, I’ll kill you.
Muttering that, Wrath closed his eyes beside him.
Gorororong.
The soft breathing of the human and the demon overlapped perfectly, sounding like one sleeper.
—
“Mm.”
Olga’s eyes shot open.
‘Where am I…?’
An elegant, spotless ceiling filled her vision—one she recognized.
‘My quarters?’
Judging by the ceiling, this was her guest room in the annex.
She had passed out in the training chamber. How did she end up here?
‘Raon must’ve carried me.’
That was the only explanation.
‘He even took care of me afterward… he really is a monster.’
He must have been in far worse condition, yet he had still carried her back. It was almost absurd.
‘But why does my body feel so light?’
After every holy power outbreak, she always woke with a pounding headache. Yet today, she felt clearheaded, like a child again.
‘Did the treatment really work?’
All she remembered was the unbearable pain, then Raon telling her to rest. She had no idea what happened after.
‘Guess I’ll find out when I see him.’
She tried to sit up—and froze.
“W-What…?”
Her right arm, once blackened and scarred with tattoo-like burns, was smooth and pale like that of a newborn child.
“W-What is this…?”
Panicking, she looked around.
“The black marks… they’re gone?”
Not just her arm—her legs too, once marred with wounds and symbols, were perfectly healed.
She rushed to the mirror. Even the deep burns on her chest and back had vanished completely. It felt like a dream.
“Truly…”
Kneeling before the mirror, Olga bit her trembling lip.
“Truly healed…”
As a woman—no, as a person—no one wants to look disfigured. She too had once wanted to look her age, to be seen as beautiful.
But she had chosen a higher cause.
She had sacrificed beauty and lifespan alike to save others. Never had she imagined regaining what she’d lost.
Tchik.
She pinched her cheek hard.
‘Not a dream.’
This is really me.
Seeing it with her own eyes, her heart pounded violently. Shock and joy surged together, leaving her speechless.
‘What’s even more amazing is my constitution.’
Ever since her body began to collapse, simply channeling holy power had caused agony. Yet now, even with abundant holy energy swirling inside her, she felt only coolness.
‘Let’s test it.’
She raised her hand and summoned a surge of divine light. Once, that would’ve burned her skin off. Now—nothing. Not even a sting.
“Ha… hahahaha…”
Covering her face with her glowing hand, Olga let out a laugh.
‘He really did it… he cured me.’
When Raon said he’d fix her condition, she hadn’t believed him. His skills were great, but healing was her domain, and she had long accepted that her body was beyond repair.
She had followed him simply to humor her benefactor—never expecting to receive a new body.
‘How can I ever repay this?’
Even saving Montiro had been her way of repaying Raon. But this? This was beyond any repayment imaginable.
‘What could I possibly give him?’
“Wait…”
Had she even thanked him yet?
Thinking back, she had fainted right away. She hadn’t even said thank you.
“Damn it!”
She jumped up and rushed out of the room.
Thud.
As she turned the corner toward Raon’s quarters, Sylvia appeared.
“Oh my!”
Sylvia’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Saintess Olga?”
“Y-Yes…”
Olga stopped in her tracks and nodded.
“My goodness! I heard Raon was treating you, but I never imagined such a change!”
Sylvia smiled warmly, admiring her.
“You look much younger. It suits you wonderfully.”
Her praise carried gentle sincerity.
“Th-thank you…”
Olga averted her gaze. Raon’s mother radiated a natural grace that was somehow intimidating.
“Um, do you know where Raon is?”
She asked shyly.
“Why are you looking for him?”
“I… owe him so much, and I don’t know what to do…”
Clutching her violet hair, she groaned softly.
“I don’t know how to repay something this great…”
“It’s simple.”
Sylvia lifted a finger with a gentle laugh.
“Just tell him thank you.”
“Of course I will, but that’s not enough. What he did for me can’t be measured.”
Even receiving two top-grade elixirs was nothing compared to twelve straight hours of aura manipulation and body reconstruction. A simple thank you could never express it.
“Raon doesn’t help people expecting anything back.”
Sylvia shook her head and took Olga’s hand.
“He reached out because he sees you as a friend. A thank-you is all he needs.”
She smiled softly, saying her son wasn’t the type to seek rewards.
“R-Really?”
Olga still looked uncertain but touched.
“Of course.”
Sylvia nodded calmly.
“My son never does things for repayment.”
“Mm…”
Olga lowered her head, eyes glistening. Tears slipped down her freshly healed cheeks.
“It’s okay.”
Sylvia embraced her gently.
It was a touching moment—one that Wrath could not bear to watch.
– Even if she’s his mother, this is too much!
Wrath burst through the wall, screaming.
– That gluttonous brat has no greed?! What nonsense! If he’d been born in the Demon Realm, he’d have stolen the title of [Greed] for himself! Absolutely!
—
“Yaaawn.”
Raon stretched and slowly opened his eyes.
‘Slept like a rock.’
He didn’t know how long he’d been out, but his body felt light, fully restored in both strength and mind.
‘You too, right?’
He glanced at Wrath, floating lazily in the air.
– Because of you, I couldn’t sleep properly!
Wrath clenched his fist, fury radiating from him.
‘Because of me?’
– You dared to eat Nadine Bread before bed! That stench still lingers!
He shuddered, shoulders twitching as if tasting burnt rubber again.
‘Sorry. I was half-asleep then.’
– A second time and I’d be dead from it! Dead, I say!
Wrath ground his teeth, claiming Nadine Bread would’ve been his cause of death.
‘Don’t be so dramatic. From now on, I’ll get you something you like—’
As Raon reached out to pat his head, he sensed a faint presence near the window.
Looking over, he saw a golden-haired, red-eyed elder gazing in from outside.
“Lord Glenn?”
The man before the window was none other than Glenn. He motioned for Raon to come out, then vanished.
‘He’s ready already?’
Raon opened the window and stepped outside, walking down to the lakeside where Glenn stood.
“Just woke up, did you? Perfect timing.”
Glenn nodded calmly, as if he’d just arrived.
– Perfect timing, my foot. He’s been waiting.
Wrath scoffed, shaking his head.
“Lately, I’ve had no new inspiration for martial arts,” Glenn said. “And the ones I’ve used in the past wouldn’t help you much either…”
Clicking his tongue, he took out a thick book. The title read -Sky Piercing Thunder-—its ink still fresh.
“It’s a fusion of [Azure Sky Sword] and [Heavenly Thunder Art]. You can use them together or separately.”
Glenn had once said that -Heavenly Thunder Art- harmonized well with -Azure Sky Sword-. Now he’d merged them completely.
“Thank you.”
Raon bowed deeply as he received -Sky Piercing Thunder-.
“Truly…”
After already gifting him five treasures from Zieghart’s vault, Glenn had gone even further, combining two of his own techniques just for him. Words couldn’t express his gratitude.
[You have obtained the desired item.]
[The trait <Greed> activates.]
[All stats increase.]
[The value of <Greed> rises.]
Because he had received something he deeply desired, even Greed itself responded. His soul felt just a little sturdier.
– I’m going to lose my mind! The brat who already made me jealous is growing worse!
Wrath’s eyes burned blue with indignation.
“It’s nothing compared to what you’ve accomplished,” Glenn said, waving a hand. “Defeating the Black Tower Lord is far greater.”
“I wanted to show you the -Sky Piercing Thunder- form, but you still look tired. Another time.”
He turned as if to leave.
“Please wait.”
Raon raised a hand. Though embarrassed to ask after receiving so much, this was something he had to say.
“There’s something I’d like to request, my lord.”
“A request? What is it?”
Glenn nodded, signaling for him to speak.
“I’d like to use the opportunity you once granted me.”
Raon clenched his fist and met Glenn’s crimson gaze.
“Please open the [Chamber of Self].”
